About:
Shannon is 30-year-old Brisbane based artist. She is a self-taught oil painter who specialises in realism with her practice inspired by a variety of different subject matter including sweets, pantry staples and still life scenes. Shannon’s work aims to capture the playfulness and nostalgia of her subjects, bringing a sense of joy to ordinary everyday items.
Shannon graduated university with a degree in Fine Art majoring in Print Media with a specific focus on copper plate etching and drawing. It wasn’t until after university and working in an art supply store she decided to teach herself oil painting and move away from works on paper in favour of a canvas.
She has now been painting full-time for the past 4 years with hundreds of her works now in many private collections around the world. Her small scale works are known for featuring bright colours are always painted with a high attention to detail. They don’t require much wall space and are great for bookshelf styling.
The Studio:
Shannon works from her home studio in Ashgrove alongside her two studio assistants Mindy & Marlow.
Mindy has been working in the studio since 2021 after her adoption when her first family surrendered her. She is a Ragdoll and she is spicy at times despite her full legal name being Mindy Rainbow Sparkles (named prior to adoption!). She is the boss of the studio and can always be found lounging about the studio making sure Shannon is working hard.
Marlow was the second studio assistant welcomed to the team in 2022. Adopted after being rescued by police when he was just a tiny kitten. The more mischievous of the studio assistants but he still does try his best and is a valuable addition to the team.
To keep up to date with Shannon's studio assistants, latest work and exhibitions you can find her on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok under the username @shannoncamdenart.
